Yes, burning things is fun.  It's cool to make stuff smoke and stink.  Which, come to think of it, pretty much describes me after long night of making Miracle Tortillas - smoking and stinking.   

But too much of a good thing is less of a good thing, so if the acrid smell of scorched tortilla is getting into your couch and household pets, you can try this - painting with acrylic paints on a tostada.  In this one,  I started with the light areas and then added four or five darker layers, until the edges are as black as if they had been burned.  The burning looks plenty realistic, like a tostada trompe l'oeil.
