Page 1 of 5 I have played around with many different techniques of making miracles, before settling on my browning sauce/burnt umber method. In this demo, I pull some of those prototypes out of the safe, dust them off, and show them to the world. You can see which methods sucked, and which didn't...
This one didn't suck, but the method was time-consuming. I took a few drops of browning sauce, diluted them with water, and swabbed the mix all over the tortilla, giving it sort of a mottled all-over light brown look. Real artists would call this "toning the canvas." Since I am not one of those, I just called it "swabbing browning sauce on a tortilla." Then I painted the lighter areas of the face with some more browning sauce, using a cotton swab to soften the edges. Then another layer of browning, this time a bit darker, then another layer. Finally, after five layers of browning, dropped the tortilla into the pan and burned it. It turned out well, but the painting took a lot of time, like 40 minutes or so.
